I think people underestimate the ability to fall in love. It requires a selfish and selfless abandon. A recklessness. Consensus reality is a guarded place, full of people who are constantly on guard. This is especially so in the fickle world of the gay man. To give too much into love, is to go against common wisdom. Many will let down their guard gradually, but not wholly, to the ones they care about. Yet, when we just give in, I feel that the greatest rewards are granted. It's a gamble where pain is risked for a prize so great. Experience can teach though, that the pain can be overcome, and isn't necessarily so scary.
