Hey it's MCH from about.com! I like your blog so I thought I'd reply. In the end there about the goat, I think that if you are killing the goat to eat it after the sacrifice ritual (assuming it's a god-related sacrifice ritual) I think that's a totally different thing that just killing the goat & discarding his body. Most things in life R certainly not black/white issues, we always live in the gray area. I see you R thinking a lot about all of this. One thing I did notice in reading this post is that our concept of human identity can be so limited & tiny that we only see one aspect of a situation & so then sacrifice has a meaning to it, but in larger terms looking at identity from a different perspective, the concept of sacrificing something really has no meaning. I'm not a big fan of the idea of sacrifice because to me it means you have to give up something for someone else, as if that were a good thing, and then you're considered saintly or something. I don't like that idea. But that's just considering sacrifice in terms of say a theoretical relationship with another person. Talking about literally sacrificing an animal is different yet again, and killing plants is of course not the same as an animal, so there are many differing ideas you've brought up here that are sort of related but disconnected. I see we're a lot alike Theo, I saw your profile! I'm gay as well, but 40 years old! Maybe we talk more. it is an interesting discussion.
