FlatTop: Sooj concert soon.

I’m at FlatTop grill on Southport and Belmont. I just finished writing an interesting post regarding religion and it’s application to our lives. I’m killing time before the SJ Tucker Concert at Life Force Arts Center. I’m really looking forward to this. It’s always a pleasure to see her perform, and while the Palimpsest tour was a lot of fun, I’m definitely in the mood from some straight (bi? queer?) Sooj action tonight.

Work is kind of crazy busy. We’re creating specifications and data pieces for a new version of our current in-house Back Office Accounting software, and trying to prototype as much as we can as we go along. I get the impression that I’m going to be working some extra-long days and nights over the summer. It seems likely that it will pay off for me in the end, but I have to admit to a little frustration at the up-front labor cost.

On the plus side I’m really enjoying the work that I’m doing lately. I’m actually firmly in the developing, and to some extend architecting zone at the moment. This is the work that I really enjoy. So much that I don’t even mind being in the office after five, or working at home during the evenings and weekends.

I think SJ and K leave tomorrow for Wisconsin or Minnesota again. As always, I’ll miss them, but it seems they may be back in June. I like having a large extended family of iterant wanderers. I like having a home to share with them, a place to offer them comfort and solace.

As Sooj said the other night, I’m happy to be part of this posse. To her, it’s the family she finds at the many places she comes to stay on her travels. To me it’s the family that comes to me.

And now I’m feeling humbled and full of gratitude and joy. The people in my life are a gift from god. SJ, K, George, Shivian, @si_storm, Alex, Samantha, Elizabeth, Herbis Orbis, all my teachers and brothers who are too many to name. All the rest of my ever expanding family are the treasure of my life.

Awh. Sometimes I get sappy and want to hit myself. :D But it’s true, and so I’ll let that stand on it’s own merits. Time to get out of here, possibly find some ice cream on the way to the concert for a desert, and possibly find some wi-fi so I can post these before midnight.
