The world is only as stable as you make it.
Everything we experience is the product of either our perceptions or our internal revelation. There can thus be no objective reality that is knowable to man. Thus all reality as we interact with it through our perceptual veils is mutable.
Thus our science, if it is going to truly understand the mysterious clockwork of our universe must either a) Accept and study the interaction of our perception, action, and internal revelation upon the universe. Or b) discard the model of rationality which has been imposed upon it and submit to the model of the mystic. Since we already have mystics and shamans, I suggest the scientists go with option A.
